RT @AbigailPogson: A fantastic day @Sage_Gateshead @RNSinfonia launching two projects making new work with @soundandmusic & @StreetwiseOper
5 hours 25 sec ago

A behind-the-scenes documentary about English National Opera's site-specific community performance at the British Museum, which starred performers from Streetwise Opera London.

The performance responded to ENO’s production of the Philip Glass opera Akhnaten and the British Museum's collection, exploring the passage of time from the ancient past to today and beyond. It considered what has been left behind by past societies, what we value today, and what we want to leave for future generations. Entitled Millions of Years, it included sections of Glass’s original music as well as a new composition by John Barber devised with performers.

The performance was the culmination of a large-scale community project developed by English National Opera in collaboration with Improbable Theatre, Gandini, Brixton Youth Theatre, Raw Material, Streetwise Opera, The Sorrell Foundation, London Metropolitain University, University College London’s Petrie Museum and the British Museum. It was performed on 6 March 2016.
