Volunteering

As a small charity using music to help people make positive changes in their lives, we couldn’t operate without the invaluable support of our volunteers.

We offer 12-week part-time volunteer work placements in our central London office for people who have experienced homelessness. These give the opportunity to develop skills in arts administration and can be tailored to an individual's professional development needs and interests. For more information or to refer someone for a placement, contact our Progression Manager Lucinda Meredith on lm@streetwiseopera.org, or read our work placement volunteers' experiences blog.

We also offer the following other regular and one-off volunteering opportunities:
- Workshop volunteering - taking part in our weekly workshops and helping to distribute refreshments and ensure performer wellbeing
- Production volunteering - getting our shows onto stage, for example by painting sets, making costumes or taking on other backstage tasks
- With One Voice volunteering - contributing to the success of our exciting international arts and homelessness movement
Office volunteering - ad-hoc administrative tasks in our central London office

Please note that we're not currently seeking volunteers for these roles. However if you'd like to be added to our volunteer mailing list to stay up-to-date with opportunities available, please email admin@streetwiseopera.org specifying your location and volunteering preference.

In return for volunteering, Streetwise Opera offers you the opportunity to develop your skills, work with a friendly and supportive staff team, and have the rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people who have experienced homelessness. We also provide expenses.

Streetwise Opera is an inclusive organisation and actively promotes equality. We welcome volunteer applications from anyone, particularly those with a personal experience of homelessness.
