Our workshop programme at the Booth Centre in Manchester is part of an exciting three-way partnership between Streetwise Opera, the Booth Centre and Opera North. The music programme is embedded into the programme of regular activities at the Booth Centre, and the group's material is linked to Opera North’s season. New people are welcome to join sessions at any time.

Wednesdays, 2:30pm to 4:30pm
Manchester Art Gallery, Learning Studio, Mosley Street, Manchester M2 3JL
Termly music and drama workshops, open to people who are or have been homeless

Our Explore Group in Manchester looks at a different opera each term, focusing on developing performance skills, building confidence and having fun. There are also opportunities to be involved in the creation of new operas as well as volunteer and gain work experience. The group is open to former clients of the Booth Centre and other people that have experienced or are at risk of homelessness.

If you would like to attend, please contact our Manchester Programme Producer, Gareth Smith, on or 07432 242649.

Meet the performer

'Coming to workshops lifts you up and makes you feel inspired. It's like a family - we all work hard together.

'It's really turned my life around - it's helped me give up drinking and built up my confidence. But I still like my rock and roll!

'The highlight of Streetwise Opera is the performing - you work so hard for so many weeks and it's nice to show people. It makes it all worthwhile.'
