There are also opportunities to be involved in the creation of new operas as well as volunteer and gain work experience.

This session is run in artistic partnership with the Sage Gateshead.

Meet the performer

'I've been coming to Streetwise in Newcastle for two years and my favourite piece of music we've worked on is the Soldier's Chorus. If I could be any character from an opera, I'd be someone from Faust - it's my favourite opera.

'I come to the workshops to learn to sing and have a good time. If you're thinking about coming I'd say give it a try, you’ve got nothing to lose.

'Streetwise in three words would be: fun, enjoyment, laughter.'
