Become a Streetwise Opera Changemaker
“Streetwise is a unique phenomenon, using the great binding force of music to engage with people who might feel, for whatever reason, somehow disconnected from the community. Streetwise is also Streetkind, Streetinclusive, and above all Streetjoyful. Long may it flourish.”

Do you envision a world where creativity is accessible to everyone?
At Streetwise Opera, we have championed opera and creativity as a positive way for people affected by homelessness to build confidence and skills and become part of a supportive and creative community.
“I’ve been at Streetwise Manchester for over 11 years now. It’s one of the few places I can go to when I don’t feel well. At the start of lockdown I did all the online stuff for two years. Because I was saving money on not travelling to workshops that’s when I started doing the direct debit. And I’ve continued it now. All of you at Streetwise Opera really do change lives. Indeed Streetwise Opera has saved mine.”

Changemakers make a huge difference to our work, through providing regular, dependable support for people with experience of homelessness in London, Manchester and Nottingham. Giving monthly can be an affordable and flexible option, enabling you to spread your giving out across the year. It is also highly effective, providing us with a reliable base of support for our programmes.
By becoming a Streetwise Opera Changemaker, you’ll provide some of the most marginalised people in society with the chance to leave their troubles at the door and enter a safe space of creativity and learning, which will help boost confidence, new skills and improve mental wellbeing.
- £5 a month, or £60 a year could pay for a support worker to attend one Streetwise session with performers
- £12 a month, or £144 a year could pay for a practitioner to lead one opera workshop in a frontline homelessness setting such as a homelessness centre
- £20 a month, or £240 a year could pay for a workshop leader to run one session to help give performers high quality creative development
Last year the total donated by our regular supporters paid for 62 Streetwise Sessions, enabling people affected by homelessness in London, Manchester and Nottingham to take part in weekly opera activities.
If you’d like to make a difference to the lives of people affected by homelessness, you can become a Changemaker here.
