Streetwise Opera explores the themes and characters of Mansfield Park (2011), ahead of a performance of Jonathan Dove’s chamber opera at Royal Northern College of Music.

This new piece by participants in Streetwise Opera’s workshops at Manchester Art Gallery is a response to Dove’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s popular and controversial novel.

It includes extensive devising of new material to augment the score, producing a 25-minute unique performance

Mansfield Park tells the story of Fanny Price, who is sent at age 10 to live with her rich uncle, Sir Thomas Bertram, at his family estate.
