One Festival of Homeless Arts
Old Diorama Arts Centre
201 Drummond Street

On World Homeless Day, 10 October, Streetwise Opera will perform at the London opening night of the One Festival of Homeless Arts.

This will be an open workshop, so get ready to overcome your shyness and sing with our performers! We’ll have participants from our workshops at The Connection at St Martins, which include clients from The Passage support centre.

As well as some classical Italian repertoire, we will accompany soprano Rose Stachniewska in singing Raymond Yiu’s arrangement of Neapolitan song ‘Marenariello‘, which includes the original lyrics in Italian as well as the English text from the adaptation “I have but one heart”, recorded by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and others, and featured in the film The Godfather (1972). This new arrangement was created for Night Under The Stars.

One Festival of Homeless Arts brings together works of art in many forms, from theatre and film, to sculpture and photography, as well as traditional visual art, all of which have been created by artists who are or have been homeless.

The festival aims to give people a safe space, an amazing venue that is easily accessible to the public, so that as many people as possible can see this amazing work.
