It’s one of the most intense scenes in Verdi’s opera Macbeth: a band of assassins wait in the dark, ready to slaughter Banquo under orders from his treacherous friend Macbeth. As they wait for their victim, they sing “The sun has disappeared, now let night reign, wicked and bloodstained.” This chorus is mysterious, energetic and a true delight to listen to.

We’ll be singing the Chorus of the Assassins (Coro di Sicari) as part of the celebrations of Light Night 2020 in Nottingham. Jon us at St Peters Church on 8 Saturday February at 6pm.

Light Night is Nottingham’s famous night of eclectic and electric light installations. On Friday 7 and Saturday 8 February the streets of the city centre will come alive with work of various artists.

Streetwise Opera’s group in Nottingham is exploring music inspired by the work of William Shakespeare to celebrate the upcoming the Royal Shakespeare Company’s visit to Nottingham in March 2020.
