Ten years ago, Streetwise Opera made history by bringing together people with lived experience of homelessness from across England, to perform as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Since then, the one question we most get asked by participants in our workshops is when we are all singing together again. We finally have an answer!

We are excited to announce that our groups from Manchester, Nottingham and London will all take part in the world premiere of Re:sound at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Sunday 26 March 2023. About a hundred people with experience of homelessness will perform, accompanied by the amazing BBC Concert Orchestra and members of the stunning choir The Sixteen. They’ll be singing the nine micro-operas they have co-created, working over the past nine months with a group of world-class composers, to celebrate the history, culture and spirit of their cities.

This will be the biggest massed performance in the arts and homelessness sector in the last decade, and we are raising £4,200 to cover the logistics and make this beautiful concert happen. If you wish to support the final stage of Re:sound, we are asking that you do so between 12 noon on Tuesday 29 November and 12 noon on Tuesday 6 December, as any donations received then will be doubled by the Big Give Christmas Challenge.

Match-funding by the campaign is generously being championed by the Monday Charitable Trust, a grant making foundation that aims to improve life chances of disadvantaged and often marginalised groups in the United Kingdom.
