We are proud to announce that London Homelessness Foundation (LHF), a charitable trust that supports and champions work to end homelessness, is awarding Streetwise Opera a grant of £13,451. The funding will support our innovative project Opera:Futures, designed to help people with lived experience of homelessness to develop the confidence, creativity and communication skills that open the door to new opportunities.
Working in partnership with two frontline homelessness services in London, we are offering small group coaching sessions covering:
- Confidence – breathing techniques, vocal projection and personal presence
- Collaboration & teamwork – ensemble singing and group problem-solving
- Creativity & innovation – encouraging flexible thinking and new approaches
- Communication & presentation – using performance skills to strengthen clarity, body language and self-assurance
In the longer term, this project aims to increase participants’ success in interviews, helping them move into employment and stable accommodation. The communication and self-advocacy skills gained will also support them in all areas of life, from accessing services to building relationships.

This funding will allow us to pilot an entirely new programme that uses tried and tested creative techniques to support people back into the workplace, which can be a significant step on the journey of recovery from homelessness.”
