We are thrilled to share that Streetwise Opera has been shortlisted for the ScottishPower Foundation Awards, recognising our unique approach to using opera as a tool for empowerment and social change. We are proud to be nominated in the Innovation category alongside other outstanding groups making a difference across the UK: the marine conservation charity Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust, community puppetry company Moving Parts Arts, music and dementia initiative Playlist for Life, and the deaf health charity SignHealth.
The Innovation Award celebrates projects that address a community need in a unique and imaginative way, showing resilience and ingenuity to overcome challenges and make room for new ideas. At Streetwise Opera, we’re honoured that our work has been recognised for transforming how opera is created, the stories it tells and who it is for, empowering people who have experienced homelessness to rebuild their lives through creativity while changing perceptions of both homelessness and opera.
The winners of the ScottishPower Foundation Awards will be announced on 3 November 2025, and we look forward to celebrating with all the other inspiring nominees.
