Streetwise Opera joins Trinity Laban students to create exciting new music

Described as an eclectic two‑week festival of creativity and innovation, Trinity Laban’s CoLab uses the arts to challenge people’s expectations and views of society. This is something that resonates with Streetwise Opera’s ethos and that’s why we are thrilled to be taking part in this year’s edition.

For two weeks in February 2020 some of our London performers have been working with students from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance to create an exciting new performance, inspired by the theme “What I care about” and by music by Benjamin Britten.

This new ‘opera miniature’ will be performed at Blackheath Halls on Friday 21 February, 7:30pm. This event is free, but tickets must be booked online.

The project is being led by director Karen Gillingham, baritone and animateur Robert Gildon and composer Hannah Conway, who is Artistic Director at Streetwise Opera.

CoLab is huge! In 2019, over 900 students, staff and visiting artists were involved creating, developing and rehearsing 85 diverse projects. And we are very proud to be part of this massive festival this year. To find out more about this initiative, visit Trinity Laban’s website.
